My wife, Katie and I have lived in Greenwood Village for 32 years, where we were fortunate to raise five incredible sons. I am a Cherry Creek High School graduate, then attended Boston University where I received a BA in Geology and Anthropology. Employed 10 years in the oil industry and then 32 years with the US Environmental Protection Agency, retired in 2020. Katie was a science teacher at Smoky Hill High School for 39 years, recently retired.
I served on Greenwood Village City Council from 2003-2011, and on the Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commission from 1999-2003. During that time I led the development of Village Greens North Park, including a 2.3 mile Mountain Bike course, 18 hole disc golf course, paved bike/walking path and extensive landscaping. I also worked with the Southeast Transportation Authority to improve public transit in Greenwood Village.
Will work collaboratively with the mayor, city council, city staff and outside agencies to maintain and improve city services and events. Safety in our neighborhoods, businesses, and schools is a high priority of mine. I will work to make sure that the resources needed for our safety are provided.
Try new approaches to address the rush hour traffic that we encountered during week days. To alleviate traffic around Cherry Creek campus, I would propose to halt westbound vehicles from the Dam Road during the school start hour, 7:45-8:45. I will also work with RTD and local businesses to encourage commuters to use light rail or buses by providing free passes. I will encourage multi-use development to replace our aging and vacant office buildings, that would result in new businesses and disperse traffic timing and patterns.
I agree that the city must maintain its Home Rule authority to approve and control new development without intervention from the State. Mixed-use development to replace aging and vacant offices that would create walkable neighborhoods with new retail, restaurants, and office space is what I would encourage.
Expand the ability of residents to use the Recreation Reimbursement Program at any metro area facility that they choose for better physical and mental health.
Live streaming of city council meetings should be made available so that residents can have better understanding of the actions and opinions of its representatives. I pledge to listen to your concerns and follow-up.
I will support the continued excellent financial status of Greenwood Village by collaborating with the mayor, council and staff on budget matters.
Have questions or suggestions? I would love to hear from you!
